CHAPTER 35

יְשֻׂשׂוּם מִדְבָּר וְצִיָּה וְתָגֵל עֲרָבָה וְתִפְרַח כַּחֲבַצָּלֶת ׃
1.

 

1.  THE wilderness and the solitary

place shall be glad for them; and

the desert shall rejoice, and blos-

som as the rose.

 

 

1.  Wilderness and arid land shall be jubilant;

the desert shall rejoice

when it blossoms like the crocus.

 

 

 

 

פָּרֹחַ תִּפְרַח וְתָגֵל אַף גִּילַת וְרַנֵּן כְּבוֹד הַלְּבָנוֹן נִתַּן־לָהּ הֲדַר הַכַּרְמֶל וְהַשָּׁרוֹן הֵמָּה יִרְאוּ כְבוֹד־יְהוָה הֲדַר אֱלֹהֵינוּ ׃
2.

 

2.  It shall blossom abundantly, and

rejoice even with joy and singing:

the glory of Lebanon shall be given

unto it, the excellency of Carmel and

Sharon, they shall see the glory of

the LORD, and the excellency of our

God.

2.  Joyously it shall break out in flower,

singing with delight;

it shall be endowed with the glory of Lebanon,

the splendor of Carmel and Sharon.

The glory of the Lord and the splendor of our God

they shall see there.

 

 

 

 

חַזְּקוּ יָדַיִם רָפוֹת וּבִרְכַּיִם כֹּשְׁלוֹת אַמֵּצוּ ׃
3.

 

3.  ¶ Strengthen ye the weak hands,

and confirm the feeble knees.

 

3.  Strengthen the hands grown feeble,

steady the failing knees.

 

 

 

 

אִמְרוּ לְנִמְהֲרֵי־לֵב חִזְקוּ אַל־תִּירָאוּ הִנֵּה אֱלֹהֵיכֶם נָקָם יָבוֹא גְּמוּל אֱלֹהִים הוּא יָבוֹא וְיֹשַׁעֲכֶם ׃
4.

 

4.  Say to them that are of a fearful

heart, Be strong, fear not: behold,

your God will come with vengeance,

even God with a recompence; he will

come and save you.

 

 

59:18-20

 

4.  Say to those with fearful hearts,

Take courage, be unafraid!

See, your God is coming to avenge and to reward;

God himself will come and deliver you.

 

 

 

 

אָז תִּפָּקַחְנָה עֵינֵי עִוְרִים וְאָזְנֵי חֵרְשִׁים תִּפָּתַחְנָה ׃
5.

 

5.  Then the eyes of the blind shall

be opened, and the ears of the deaf

shall be unstopped.

42:6-7

5.  Then shall the eyes of the blind be opened

and the ears of the deaf unstopped.

 

 

 

 

אָז יְדַלֵּג כָּאַיָּל פִּסֵּחַ וְתָרֹן לְשׁוֹן אִלֵּם כִּי־נִבְקְעוּ בַמִּדְבָּר מַיִם וּנְחָלִים בָּעֲרָבָה ׃
6.

 

6.  Then shall the lame man leap as

an hart, and the tongue of the

dumb sing: for in the wilderness

shall waters break out, and streams

in the desert.

 

 

 

41:17-18

6.  Then shall the lame leap like deer,

and the tongue of the dumb shout for joy.

Water shall break forth in the wilderness

and streams flow in the desert.

 

 

 

 

וְהָיָה הַשָּׁרָב לַאֲגַם וְצִמָּאוֹן לְמַבּוּעֵי מָיִם בִּנְוֵה תַנִּים רִבְצָהּ חָצִיר לְקָנֶה וָגֹמֶא ׃

7.

 

7.  And the parched ground shall

become a pool, and the thirsty land

springs of water: in the habitation

of dragons, where each lay, shall be

grass with reeds and rushes.

 

7.  The land of mirages shall become one of lakes,

the thirsty place springs of water;

in the haunt of howling creatures

[shall marshes break out],a 

in the reservesb shall come rushes and reeds.

 

 

 

 

וְהָיָה־שָׁם מַסְלוּל וָדֶרֶךְ וְדֶרֶךְ הַקֹּדֶשׁ יִקָּרֵא לָהּ לֹא־יַעַבְרֶנּוּ טָמֵא וְהוּא־לָמוֹ הֹלֵךְ דֶּרֶךְ וֶאֱוִילִים לֹא יִתְעוּ ׃
8.

 

8.  And an highway shall be there,

and a way, and it shall be called The

way of holiness; the unclean shall

not pass over it; but it shall be for

those: the wayfaring men, though

fools, shall not err therein.

43:19-20

8.  There shall be highways and roads

which shall be called the Way of Holiness,

cfor they shall be for suchc as are holy.

The unclean shall not traverse them;

on them shall no reprobates wander.

 

 

 

 

לֹא־יִהְיֶה שָׁם אַרְיֵה וּפְרִיץ חַיּוֹת בַּל־יַעֲלֶנָּה לֹא תִמָּצֵא שָׁם וְהָלְכוּ גְּאוּלִים ׃
9.

 

9.  No lion shall be there, nor any

ravenous beast shall go up thereon,

it shall not be found there; but the

redeemed shall walk there:

15:9

9.  No lions dshall be encountered there,d

nor shall wild beasts intrude.

But the redeemed shall walk them,

 

 

 

 

וּפְדוּיֵי יְהוָה יְשֻׁבוּן וּבָאוּ צִיּוֹן בְּרִנָּה וְשִׂמְחַת עוֹלָם עַל־רֹאשָׁם שָׂשׂוֹן וְשִׂמְחָה יַשִּׂיגוּ וְנָסוּ יָגוֹן וַאֲנָחָה ׃
10.

 

10.  And the ransomed of the LORD

shall return, and come to Zion

with songs and everlasting joy up-

on their heads: they shall obtain joy

and gladness, and sorrow and sigh-

ing shall flee away.

10.  the ransomed of the Lord shall return;

they shall come singing to Zion,

their heads crowned with everlasting joy.

They shall have won joy and gladness
